Age of Empires online error code 80070002

Age of Empires online error code 80070002
When you click Play I get the error code 80070002 and I looked at other threads have aver with windows update.
Using Windows 7 and am trying to update everything, but always some error in the update file from the windows update as well.

What is the computer specifications that you have? Does it meets with the game's minimum requirement. Try to follow the below and then run the game:

SFC Scan:
1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box, type cmd
3. Right click on command prompt and select Run as administrator
4. In command prompt, type:
sfc /scannow

Hi, just joined to try and fix this.

Just downloaded Steam and decided to try out Age of Empires. I installed it and went to play and got a message saying Code:80070002. I uninstalled it and tried again, still wouldn't work. Could someone possibly explain what I need to do? I am using Windows Vista.

Someone must know haha!

Niether the problem is with Steam Nor with the game. Problem is actually with your system. You just need to turn on and install all Windows Updates available for your system. After updates are completed, try to run the game in compatibility mode. It will work.

Thank you! I am not great with computers, how do you run it in compatibility mode?

It is too simple friend. Just right click the application shortcut on your desktop or wherever it is, go to properties, and click on Compatibility Tab. Now select any earlier version of windows and click apply. Thats it.
