Not content to become the leader in the microprocessor market, Intel intends to not stay down on the segment of the flash memory, and as such continues to increase standards for SSD (Solid State Disk) as evidenced by the announcement Monday, the arrival of a new model in its line of X-25M. With a capacity of 160 GB, this disc uses cell type MLC (Multi-Level Cell) and provide performance of about 250 MB / s sequential read, against 70 MB / s writing. It uses a SATA interface type II.
Intel also announced an average time of operation (MTBF) of 1.2 million hours, an access time of 0085 ms, and a consumption of 150 mW over. Beginning 2009, the smelter is expected to propose an equivalent capacity but in a 1.8 inch format, reference X-18M. No pricing information is disclosed at this time.
