insulation of accounts, it was quickly unpopular. Regularly asking for
confirmation of actions considered trivial, it was largely abated with
Service Pack 1. In a move to further simplify the process, Microsoft
has made some choices for Windows 7 that have recently shown that
malware can change the level of control without being bored. However,
the situation has to change abruptly.
The UAC and its simplified
While UAC had been much decried, is a real hardening of which occurred
before the initial choice of Microsoft. This has caused the emergence
of two problems:
The setup level of the UAC (four notches) could be modified by a
malware without confirmation is requested
A third plug-in could use a software or component of Windows,
known as safe, to raise its rights to administrator level
After the discovery of these problems, many applications have been
made to Microsoft. Simplifying the use of Windows 7 was certainly a
willingness, but many have found that it should not come at the
expense of safety.
Return to confirmation by the user
Accordingly, Steve Sinofsky, in charge of Windows development, and Jon
Devanna, published a new blog post on the official Windows 7. We learn
that the Release Candidate of the system will be fitted with two
important changes:
Control of the UAC will become a process of high integrity
