Facebook Zero Launched, a new Mobile Site

This version can be alleviated through use of low-speed mobile networks. Its use is for free game.

Facebook continues its offensive in the mobile marketing. The social networking giant has made it official on Wednesday the availability of Facebook Zero (0.facebook.com), ultra-lightweight version (text) service website.

"We removed the graphics, we put the pictures and videos at your fingertips," Henry told AFP Moissinac, mobility manager at Facebook. "While surfing the 'zero', we have 90% of the value, but 5% of the weight of the transmission of data," he said.

47 countries

"We have worked with operators throughout the world and subscribers to the consultation for 'Facebook zero' which is completely free, there will be no charge for data transmission," he said. However the consultation photos or videos will be charged at Internet usage.

It is understood that, this version is aimed primarily at low-speed mobile subscribers in the world, especially in emerging countries and those with small terminal screens.

The motive is strategic for Facebook. The networking site recently announced it had passed the bar of 100 million users on this medium.

Asked in October by Henry Moissinac confided: "We have doubled our resources on this issue, in fact, our goal is simple: we do everything now on the phone with a full range of products ranging from mobile site, applications to download (15 million iPhones in the world are equipped with dedicated application) through the deep integration of Facebook in the mobile OS market and SMS services.
